A/Professor David Wong

A/Prof David Wong is a dual qualified radiologist and PET/nuclear medicine specialist. He is the director of PET and Nuclear Medicine at I-MED Radiology Network at The Wesley Hospital and is an associate professor with the Centre for Advanced Imaging at the University of Queensland. 

He graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School and completed his radiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. After completing his Nuclear Medicine fellowship at St Vincent’s and Prince of Wales Hospitals in Sydney, he undertook PET training at Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute in Melbourne. He then completed a cardiac MRI fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St Louis, Missouri USA and MBA with CQU. 

He has received several research and scientific awards including the Rouse Travelling Fellowship and Brian Smith Memorial Award.  In 2017, he was awarded the Marquis Who’s Who – Lifetime Achiever. A/Prof Wong has been with the first PET centre in Queensland at The Wesley Hospital since 1999. In July 2014, he was instrumental in the commencement of the first Ga68PSMA PET CT studies in men with prostate cancer in Australia, and in August 2017, started the first Lutetium PSMA therapy for men with advanced prostate cancer in Queensland at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane.
