“PRAETORIAN: Prospective Registry for geniculate Arterial Embolisation as Treatment for OsteoaRthrItis And Neovascularity”.
The registry will collect evidence on the safety and effectiveness of genicular artery embolisation (GAE) as minimally invasive management of patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA).
Data will be collected from two distinct groups:
a) Pre-surgery: patients with moderate-to-severe KOA that is refractory to conservative or medical therapies who are not currently suitable candidates for total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
b) Post-surgery: patients experiencing moderate-to-severe persistent chronic pain due to neovascularization or haemarthrosis following total knee arthroplasty (TKA)
Suitable patients should be referred to the Interventional Radiology services at the Wesley Hospital and St Andrews War Memorial Hospital for a consultation regarding GAE and suitability for inclusion in the data collection. Participating interventional radiologists and inclusion/exclusion criteria are listed below.
